They assert that folk born and living in the town are civilised and good intentioned. But are they? Folk who've been working know a thing or two about politics at the office. Dirty politics that involve scandal, backstabbing, and lots more.
But what are you able to do to stay out of it? The bad news is simply that you cannot. You can , however , act like a civilized individual who can deal with it in a professional way
Dealing with rumours can be quite a challenge at work. There'll always be a rumour that might have been started by someone that doesn't like you or someone who would like to tear you down to get to the position you are presently at. What is the easiest way to handle rumours? Shrug it off. You don't have to clarify anything to workmates. Talk to your managers and explain whatever must be explained rather than arguing with fellow workmates. If you continue to talk about it, the longer it will take to extinguish the issue.
There's always competition in the work place. Two or more folk are struggling for that coveted spot. Some of the people may resort to controversial methods such as spreading rumours or plain sabotage. It's best not to resort to such activities. You don't have to stoop down to their level and be like them. Just do what you do and offer more to the table. If you can show your creativity, do so. Be careful of obvious sucking up to the bosses. It may or may backfire and not work to your advantage.
When you are in a corporate setting, you do not always have to work alone. Remember that you ought to be a good player because that is what the management wants and that's what is good for the company. Being selfish and conceited is not a pleasant feature in folk.
If workmates need help, provide it. There may come a time that you, yourself, may be in that position where help is basically needed. Beneficial people do not have a tough time asking for help because a helpful man is a likable man.
The office may test your patience and understanding. Here's where your social talents will be tested. If you want guidance, it is best to ask it from your superior or team leader. The team leader is there to help his or her squad.
