In Relation To Schrade Chef Knives
While the name Smith and Wesson is mentioned, images of the Wild West and quick, gun slinging heroes and villains spring to mind. The fact is, there are only a few names that ring of tradition, quality and good old fashioned Americanism than Smith and Wesson. But did you ever pause to take into consideration what style of knives those early cowboys, deputies and bank robbers used? Not surprisingly, your answer isn't Smith and Wesson, but its sister company, Schrade Knives.
Schrade has long been providing knives for civilians and soldiers alike for last century. However, they haven't always used it under the parent company they're now under. They were previously an independent company and have been absolutely doing so out of Ellenville, Big apple since 1904. About thirty years ago, they joined besides Smith and Wesson below the parent company Taylor Brands, from the Appalachian mountains of Kingsport, TN.
Because their name changed will not mean Schrade knives became any less qualified to be called among the best knives on the market. They tend to have translated their unyielding quality to modern manufacturing techniques, linking to more available, superior knives that any of our great grandparents could well be proud to own.
Unfortunately, it wasn't always a smooth road for Schrade. While in the summer of 2004, Schrade made a decision to close their doors forever. Many knife collectors scrambled to get their favorite knife and keep it for the collections. Little did they realize that Taylor Brands would quickly pick the brand up off the floor, dust off their image, and start manufacturing knives under their trade name again.
Their newer products add some versatile Uncle Henry knife, their coveted Old Timer knives, and many other kinds. You can find numerous stories and testimonials from happy customers, from world champion moose callers to heroic mountain EMT training rescue teams.
Straight from the horse's mouth, Schrade publishes a "Bill of Rights" in which they discuss different options inside of a quality knife. In this, they outline the many stuff that distinguish a high quality, hand crafted knife coming from the oceans of second-rate, discount knives.
The first aspect they indicate is the excellent materials they use. They make an exceptionally clear point that we now have up to twenty two different parts which can be manufactured with exacting precision within the construction of most Schrade knives. They then appear to talk about how every knife requires over 120 different processing techniques, and each part of them are carried out in your hand. They make the estimation that only about 10 manufacturers on the earth actually use this many processes manually.
Additionally they publish a handbook outlining the differing kinds of knives they put out, each one of their positives, negatives, and the sets them independent of the whole manufacturers. Their AISI 1095 High Carbon Steel uses a carbon content of 0.95% and 1.05%, inflicting a steel that is impressive at staying sharp forevermore. Couple this with unbreakable handles, you have indeed a company and knives that need to be popularly known as best.
