how did you get your child off the bedtime bottle and how old were they?
my son has just turned three and some look oddly at me when i mention he still has a bedtime bottle of warm milk. is this really odd? he has no other comforters as such and his development has been spot on if not ahead of his age for some things and its not even every night, just when he can't get himself to sleep, so i forgave him the bottle of milk at bedtime, especially since i can't get him to drink it any other time. he eats with his own cutlery and asides from the bedtime bottle - drinks from a regular childs cup or beaker with no handle/spout so its not as if i constantly baby him or anything. do you think 3yrs is way too old for a bedtime bottle? what's your experience with this?
I think as long as you are happy then dont worry! My son is also 3 and he takes warm milk to bed, although his is in a leakproof beaker. I had the same dilemma with a dummy with my oldest, she only had it at bedtime and not around the house or outside or if she was ill I would let her have it during the day. I had alot of people frown at me over it! I didnt care, eventually she gave it up just before her 4th birthday, and it was her own decision. My advice is go with your son, he wont drink from a bottle when hes 16, let him decide when he is ready. As for the ones that look at you odd, ignore them as they must be a rare breed of perfect parents!
