Its A Work And Career Jungle Out There

It can be said of many workplaces, workplace settings and even getting your career on the road that "It's a jungle out there". This is more than true. There are numerous pitfalls and potential disasters out there at your workplace at the "office" that can help, hinder or derail your employment or career plans. What can be done, what can best be planed for? What should you do, not do or be on the watch for.

First while it is should be stated that you should always try to please your boss and live up to expectations several points must be emphasized. First of all while it's always a good idea to tie yourself to an upwardly mobile superior and thus travel up the ladder effortlessly with them it can also be stated that your boss may be gone in a flash. They may be promoted elsewhere or to another department, they be so good (as you recognize) that they are move "or are stolen" to a competitor in your industry or even another field or industry. Good people are hard to find nowadays and the stand out in the crowd. Or it may be a case of office politics or downright jealousy that someone else with career plans, as well within your organization, put the "fix" in to promote their career and promotion ability. Thus it's the best choice to do your best for your boss, manager or supervisor. Do it honestly. However do not tie yourself solely to that one boss. If you do you also take the risk as being seen as "their man (or women)" and being labeled by new replacement management staff as "one of theirs "and perhaps of suspect loyalty. It can be said that a very good strategy can be to work for a "number of bosses" rather than one. Remember you are working for the firm, company, corporation or organization. If you think of your basic strategy of being employed by and working for the organization you will have diluted this issue , played it safe and be in a better position if things happen to change and you now have a new superior.

Lastly always remember to remain loyal to your interior codes of honesty and personal integrity. While it may be true that many businesses, companies and organizations have stated rules and values outlined in thick company guideline books, manuals and ethics codes not always are these followed or adhered to 100 % and 100 % of the time. It never hurts to live up to your own high personal standards of honor and integrity. After all it's a jungle out there in many workforce settings.
