I am sitting in a restaurant on the entrance to Washington Square in Sukhumvit Soi 22 trying to make sense of a Thai newspaper written only in Thai Language. I have been taking classes in Thai Language for a while and I'm starting to make sense of Thai words in the newspaper, nevertheless it has been a struggle. After I say make sense, I mean I can pronounce the words however I do not know what most of them mean. Even when I do know a phrase, the tone may be totally different from the word that I do know, so I might nonetheless not know what the phrase means!
The [two] bar/cafes at the entrance to Washington Sq. from the Soi 22 aspect are known as Sidewalk Cafe and Denny's Corner. I prefer Sidewalk Cafe as a result of it does not have bar women, and it's easier to relax. The espresso is drinkable only with a lot of sugar added. However the location of these [two] locations is perfect for watching the world go by in each Soi 22 and Washington Square. Neither place has air conditioning which makes them very hot to take a seat in, even in the winter months. Denny's Corner has extra shade from the sun than the Sidewalk Cafe. It's best to not wear jeans and never too much other clothes to stay cool.
Across Soi 22 is the Regency Park Bangkok Hotel which has [two] large stone dragons sitting on either side of the front entrance. This is fairly an costly hotel, but not so costly if you're used to paying for resorts internationally and in First World countries. In addition they don't mind for those who wander throughout the road to use their bathrooms, which is nice because they're clean. Washington Sq. is an area of land and buildings that lie between Soi 22 and Sukhumvit Road. It's a very giant area which appears to be in want of re-development. The buildings have a combination of residences, bars, a well known Muay Thai health club, therapeutic massage, and some eating places come bars. The Muay Thai gym could be very costly, but I hear that the coaching is good.
There are [two] very massive buildings within the centre of Washington Square and a hoop-highway that runs round them with buildings on the surface of the ring-highway as well. As you walk away from Soi 22 within the Square, business exercise declines, and there are various empty shops and apartments in the buildings. On the far edge of the ring-street from Soi 22 there's a bar known as Texas Saloon which is away on its own. As you keep strolling towards Sukhumvit Road the enterprise exercise improves once more and that is the place the enormous Sportsman's Bar and The Dubliner are located.
There are a lot of bars and a few massage places in Washington Square, but it's not really regarded as one of the crimson gentle districts of Bangkok. It's extra unassuming than that.
